    What is the order process for Hall Middle School?

    Hall Middle School Lunch Process

    At Hall Middle School, students do not need to pre-order lunch. Meals are ordered in bulk by District staff, and students will select their preferred meal when they come through the lunch line.

    Daily Meal Choices

    Each day, students will have three lunch options:

    • Hot Meat Entrée
    • Hot Vegetarian Entrée
    • Cold Gluten-Free/Dairy-Free Meal

    Fresh fruits and vegetables and milk will also be available with lunch.

    How Meal Selection Works

    Students will choose from the available meal options when they come through the lunch line. There is no advance ordering or meal selection required by students or families.

    To help reduce food waste and ensure responsible use of District funds, staff will determine the quantity of each meal to order based on students' historical preferences and meal selection patterns.

    A New Food Provider

    Because the District is working with a new food provider, it will take some time to learn which meals are most popular with Hall students. During the first few months of the school year, there may be days when a student's first-choice meal is no longer available by the time they come through the lunch line.

    District staff will closely monitor meal selections and adjust future orders as we learn students' preferences. Our goal is to provide enough of each option to meet student demand while minimizing unnecessary food waste.

    Thank you for your patience and understanding as we fine-tune the lunch program and learn Hall students' meal preferences.

    Where do I go on the internet to order lunch? How do I establish a new account?

    Google Form Surveys will be sent out through ParentSquare every two weeks to gather information for District staff to bulk order lunches each day. Your student will be able to choose from 3 options - meat, vegetarian, or gluten free/dairy free meal

    We are excited to share an update about our new food service provider, Ordo Foods, and our updated meal ordering process for the upcoming school year.

    As with any new program, there may be a few adjustments as we get started.  Please know that District staff is working closely with the Ordo team to ensure the transition is as smooth and seamless. We are pleased to welcome Lara Dillon, a former LCMSD parent volunteer, as our new Child Nutrition Services Technician. Lara will work closely with families, students, staff, and Ordo Foods to help ensure the continued success of our nutrition program.

    Parent Volunteers Needed

    Parent volunteers are highly encouraged to assist during lunch service at Neil Cummins and The Cove School. Your support will help ensure a smooth and successful launch of our new meal program.  Please watch for upcoming volunteer sign-up opportunities.

    New Meal Ordering Process

    One of the biggest changes families will notice is our simplified meal selection process. Rather than placing individual online meal orders each day, District staff will submit meal orders to Ordo based on student preferences collected through a monthly Google Form. Parents will no longer order online.

    As soon as we receive Ordo's August menu, we will share the Google Form with families.  This new process is designed to make meal planning easier for families while helping us better anticipate student choices and reduce food waste.

    Breakfast 

    Breakfast will be available each school day before the morning bell. This year, students will enjoy the convenience of a Grab & Go Breakfast Cart located on the blacktop before school begins. Students are encouraged to pick up a complete, nutritious breakfast and enjoy it before the bell rings or save it for their morning snack or recess.

    Each breakfast includes fresh fruit and a choice of milk, along with two daily entrée options. Examples of breakfast items may include:

    • Healthy muffins
    • Breakfast bars
    • Bagels
    • Cereal

    Lunch Options

    Each school day, students will have three lunch choices which include fruit, vegetables, and a choice of milk to provide a complete, balanced meal.

    • One hot entrée with meat
    • One hot vegetarian entrée
    • One cold gluten free/dairy free meal option
    What happens if I forget to order a lunch for my child and he/she is given an emergency lunch by school staff?

    There will always be a meal for each student who wants a meal.

    I understand that LCMSD operates under the National School Lunch Program? What is that?

    Beginning in School Year (SY) 2022–23, California will become the first state to implement a statewide Universal Free Meals Program for all school children. Commencing in SY 2022–23, Education Code (EC) 49501.5 requires public school districts, county offices of education, and charter schools serving students in grades TK–12 to provide two meals free of charge (breakfast and lunch) during each school day to students requesting a meal, regardless of their free or reduced-price meal eligibility.

    Are meals offered during breaks, like Winter Break?

    No.

    Meals are offered every school day which students are required to attend school.

    Meals are NOT offered over Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, Presidents’ Week Break, and Spring Break.

    Information about locations that serve Summer Meals will be provided at the end of each school year.
